WIRES Needs Volunteers! Well aint that strange.

WIRES has been advertising online for volunteers to help them with training staff at their head office. Odd thing though, as WIRES is a volunteer organisation. Didn't they want to ask one of their members? Why didn't they ask one of their members? Over 2000 volunteers and they couldn't get anyone to help them?

Help WIRES staff work faster with better MS Office skills

The job description:

WIRES is the largest wildlife rescue group in Australia with more than 2,000 members. It is a voluntary, non-profit, organisation operating across NSW. WIRES has an effective and dedicated network of volunteer rescuers, carers and veterinarians who rescue and rehabilitate sick, injured or orphaned native wildlife. The Administration and Rescue office in Forestville is manned by 8 full time staff and more than 20 casual staff to operate the call centre and do the administrative work. The Rescue office coordinates rescue calls from the public to our volunteer members.

We need to upgrade our staffs' skills in Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint to reduce the level of frustration and make the work a breeze instead of a slog! If you can help with some training for our staff we would love to hear from you.

It used to say:

"The good fight"? What happened to the frustration? Did rw.com help them lose their frustration? And what of the slog?

They changed it because we noticed. It's all part of the service here at Claudia's house of useless knowledge.

I am no longer a member and my application will override your application. (How do you feel about that) You most likely are more worthy and qualified than myself. I have an advantage over you . When I am approved I can make an allegation against you and no matter what you say or do you will be alienated. We will still accept your per capita fees however you will have no rights. So you might as well piss off now. (What do you think of that). I can throw Wires into turmoil with my ignorance as I have previous unqualified experience you will contribute to bring me up to your speed.
At least the donations and bequests will be paying my wages super sick and holidays. While you stupid members and those stupid wild animals suffer and get nothing but frustration.
You are only a member what makes you think that you might have a remote chance of being responsible or experienced enough to apply for such a job that will need to train you after you are accepted then ask you to decline wages and volunteer only to be stood over and threatened and called incompetent

As the add says they are SLOGGING in the office. Sounds like nobody there can breeze through their job. My staff go home when they are finished they are so good that they go home early. Sounds like Head Office do not get the job done and staff are frustrated.
IS IT ILLEGAL TO SLOG AN EMPLOYEE. I WOULD,NT MIND BEING SLOGGED ON OCCASSIONS. MAYBE I CAN APPLY FOR THE SLOG JOB. Oh YES Baby!!

They bring in outstiders as they don't trust their own members who might ask questions or express disapproval or have contact with the paid staff. Explanation for not changing the rules to allow new blood on the Board.

The phone line is an assistance or help line, not an impersonal call centre somewhere obscure. the message is so long it is expensive to call on a mobile and sometimes goes around in a circle.

I did not ring you Monday as it was too late. You failed to acknowledge, register, assist, re-direct, understand, empathise or show that you were in any way concerned for the birds.

You left me having to return the chicks to the shopping strip in Jannali .

Your phone is on answer, the intranet is not available; today I finally got through to find that Carolyn was answering the phones. I was told I might be able to log in this afternoon so I cannot even advertise for a carer. Our coordinator is over burdened and last time I asked Carolyn for help I was landed with a raptor FOR 6 DAYS that I was not supposed to have and did not want. AS A RESULT I declined any future involvement with raptors AS I WAS NOT APPROVED AND TOLD I WILL NEVER BE APPROVED AS HAVE THREE OTHER (UNACCEPTABLE) MALE MEMBERS OF OUR BRANCH.

IT IS NOW SUNDAY. 10.04 pm I am still unable to use the intranet to advertise for a carer. FORTUNATELY WORD HAS GOT OUT . The birds are in the care of TUBICRQ and still alive.

WIRES NEEDS EXPERIENCED VOLUNTEERS TO TEACH PAID STAFF WITH NO QUALIFICATIONS. THEY HAVE REPLACED THE EXPERIENCED VOLUNTEERS. MEMBERS NEED NOT APPLY.

Q. IF THEY GET A VOLUNTEER HOW LONG BEFORE THEY GET THE FLICK?.

I was censured and told to apologise. I responded politely and received no answer my branch agree with me. I resigned and was embraced elsewhere. most of the adjectives are from wires managers public correspondence.

WIRES is begging for someone to train their staff for free? they didn't even ask their own members for help? this is just incompetent!!!
WIRES spends over a million bucks a year on office staff and no one has any basic IT skills. didn't they ask them about this at the interview? so are they telling us they employed all these people and paid all this donated money and didn't make sure they had done a basic tafe course in microsoft office first?
It just gets worse and worse the incompetence.

I recall writing to the manager pointing out in detail the errors of her way. She was offended by the truth and provided no facts whatsoever. In fact she was offended by her own words quoted back to her as an example of her dreams turning Wires into a nightmare. She had been quoted from her own publications. IT is a long way down the line and now the light has turned on. TOO LATE. Too late for the animals. how can she manage Wires when she cannot manage to listen to her own words. I have no doubt that Wires is folding. It was predicted by one of their financial advisors in late 2010. nobody listened. the advisors still get their piece of the cake.and why not it is there for the taking. 28 paid members of staff?. and the membership is dropping. NO wonder we can't read the annual report. Instead of sticking their head in their dark place it might be an idea to pull it out and and look around [edit]. The smart rats have looked around and run away the others have not seen the light. The members feed on assurance. 281 days late with the report is outrageous and unlawful. The Constitution is only for the persecution of members and the protection of the management.

You're spot on there Lorry Van Driver. How many good carers have now left since 2009 to go to other groups. The 2009 and 2010 annual reports are on the WIRES intranet but not the 2011 so there must be something in it that they don't want the members to see.
