Lest We Forget

dom

Just a few days ago, 10/12/13, a story about WIRES appeared in a local Sydney paper, the Hills Advocate.

It demonstrates just how unprofessional and ineffective WIRES really is.

The article that appeared in print in The Daily Telegraph the next day went even further.

The article which appears online at the Hills Advocate says:

"WIRES were called and liaised with RSL staff but as the reptile did not require a rescue a professional was called in to move it on."

WIRES denied that this animal was in need of rescue? It was in the middle of an RSL Club's foyer - it may have scared a member of the public and been injured in turn. This is precisely a situation in which an animal needs rescue. It needed "a professional" to do the rescue because WIRES is not professional.

The article the next day published in print in The Daily Telegraph added some additional information. According to witnesses, WIRES did not have anyone to go to the rescue of this animal, or at least had no one competant to do it.

What a disgrace! But a timely reminder that WIRES is useless and only good at saving donations not saving lives.

Lest We Forgot.

The Board members appear to accept the unprofessional and improper way that the WIRES Chair, Council Secretary and the GM conduct business at meetings. The Council Secretary, and Chair of WIRES among others, continue to ignore and brush aside genuine issues and concerns raised by the volunteers. Until such time that they take responsibility and are made accountable for these serious actions, and make appropriate changes, the organization will not thrive or have the support of the volunteers, who are justifiably resigning from WIRES on a very regular basis.

WIRES is a disgraceful organisation as a result of the disgusting individuals that call themselves managers. They have no idea about animal welfare or customer service. Did you know that in the last 12 months, WIRES dismissed a van driver for animal cruelty. However, they hid the issues and failed to report it to the correct authorities. It is all about image with WIRES. WIRES may advertise how many thousands of animal calls they receive each year. However, due to the incompetence of management, the majority of rescues are completed by members of the public who are instructed by the paid call centre staff to take the animal (whether it requires treatment or not) to a a local vet. That poor animal then sits at the vet (being fed cat or dog food in full view of cats and dogs) for days until the paid call centre staff arrange for a volunteer to pick the animal up. In the majority of cases, the animal has died or is so stressed by the ordeal, dies in the next day or two. That is WIRES in a nutshell. In the meantime, management paint rosey pictures for the world to believe in their website and facebook page to blind the public into donating more money. Money that never is used to help care for the animals or assist those volunteers that dig deep into their own finances to do something they feel so passionate about. A disgraceful organisation that has no idea about animal welfare or how to support volunteers that deserve so much praise and support. I have been a WIRES Volunteer for over 5 years and I will not be renewing my membership (which every volunteer must pay yearly or 3 yearly) next year. It is the volunteers that are paying for these chumps in management roles who sit in air conditioned offices doing nothing and taking home nice salaries. I don't see the managers going out in 40 plus degress assisting members with rescues like the recent heat stress events or bush fire emergencies.

To "Stained Wood" we do not charge any fee what so ever. We do except donations to help cover costs but these are often few and far between. 99% of the running costs are out of the Presidents pocket personally. We did not receive a donation for this rescue at all.

Why does the President have to pay out of his own pocket to relocate a Monitor? Sounds suspicious.just like the lost $306.000.00. $56.000.00 of that was state government funding. Why hasn't the state Orditor looked into this. Because they have not been informed. Why have Wires not provided any form of explanation. That much money does not just disappear. This is another reason that members are leaving. Since my resignation my costs to carry out the same rescue and care work has reduce to one third of the out of pocket. That has allowed me to upgrade facilities and still be in front. The frustration has ceased and I know longer have to deal with incompetence and unprofessional lack of governance

I saw this story on the tv news and on talk back radio as well. How embarrassing. I think the media is catching on to Wires.

A friend of mine range wires on the north coast with a baby bird - just fallen from the nest and not injured. Rang wires and gave relevant details 5 hours later my friend called to let Wires know that the bird had died - no one from Wires contacted the person and there was no one to rescue the bird. What confidence is there in Wires.

Did the professional cost money? Did WIRES pay for it out of the millions in donations? Inquiring minds want to know.

Oh there is an urgent rescue needed of a lace monitor in a public building? Get some other wildlife rescuer to do the job as we at WIRES are too busy counting up the donations and moving around the board chairs on the Titanic.
